What Is an Implant Denture?
In this video, Dr. Karen Becerra Penagos explains a reliable way to secure missing teeth and why starting with a stabilized denture can still leave room for a fixed smile later if the patient chooses.
An implant-supported denture is an option for replacing missing teeth. It works by placing several dental implants in the upper jaw (maxilla), lower jaw (mandible), or both. The denture is designed with special connectors that attach to the implants, which helps keep it securely in place.
This added stability allows patients to eat and chew more comfortably without worrying about the denture moving. It is a convenient and reliable solution for many people.
Another advantage is flexibility. If a patient later decides they want a fixed option, the implant-supported denture can often be transitioned to a fixed porcelain restoration without acrylic.
