What Is an Immediate Denture?
An immediate denture is prepared before teeth are removed and inserted on extraction day. It can replace the visible teeth while the extraction sites heal. As the gums and bone change, the fit may need adjustment, relining, or replacement.
The American Dental Association describes immediate dentures as a planned treatment involving measurements before extraction and possible changes after healing.
How Are Implant-Supported Teeth Different?
Implants provide attachment points or support for replacement teeth. In selected cases, a suitable denture can be connected at implant placement. The dentist must first evaluate the bone, implant stability, bite, and denture design.
Immediate attachment is not the same as complete integration with bone. You may need diet restrictions and follow-up while healing continues.
Can Your Current Denture Be Used?

What Happens Before Treatment Day?
- An examination and appropriate imaging establish the condition of the teeth and supporting tissues.
- The dentist explains whether teeth can be retained and which teeth, if any, require removal.
- Measurements and restorative planning determine what replacement can be ready.
- You receive instructions about surgery, medications, eating, and follow-up.
What Should the Estimate Explain?
Ask whether the price includes extractions, immediate teeth, later relines, and a final denture or bridge. The temporary and final stages may have separate charges. Confirm how urgent adjustments will be handled if the denture causes sore spots.
A same-day option can reduce time without teeth, but it does not remove the need for healing or maintenance. The useful question is what can be done safely on your treatment day and what remains afterward.
