La diferencia entre los brackets de metal y los alineadores transparentes es el método de uso.

Los brackets de metal van adheridos al diente y no se pueden retirar hasta que el dentista finaliza el tratamiento. Los alineadores transparentes son aparatos removibles que el paciente puede quitar y colocar. Se sostienen en los dientes con pequeños puntos de retención o topes diseñados por el dentista.

Los alineadores ayudan a mantener una mejor higiene porque se pueden retirar para cepillar los dientes. Sin embargo, solo funcionan si el paciente los usa el tiempo indicado. Si no se usan, no habrá cambios en la posición dental y el tratamiento no tendrá efecto.

Ambas opciones son efectivas cuando se siguen las indicaciones clínicas. El dentista es quien determina cuál es adecuada según la maloclusión y la colaboración del paciente. Los dos son tratamientos válidos y seguros cuando el plan se cumple correctamente.
