Can You Convert My Denture Into an Implant Denture?
In this video, Dr. Karen Bacerra Penagos explains how an existing denture can be converted into a more secure implant-supported option, giving patients better stability today and clearer choices for the future.
Yes, a traditional denture can often be converted into an implant-supported denture.
If a patient already has a denture that moves or feels loose, we can place mini dental implants to help stabilize it. This allows the denture to stay securely in place. Later on, the patient can decide whether they want to move to a more fixed option and eliminate the acrylic altogether.
One of the main drawbacks of a full acrylic denture is that it can feel bulky and may reduce your ability to taste food. However, when there are limited options, a stabilized denture is still far better than having no teeth at all.
