What Is a Fix-on-Six?

In this video, Dr. Karen Becerra-Penagos explains a fixed alternative to removable dentures, and why some patients experience a more natural feel and better everyday function with implant-supported full-arch restorations.

A Fix-on-six is a full-arch porcelain restoration that replaces all of the teeth. Unlike a traditional denture, it does not use acrylic to cover the palate or the gum tissue on the front (labial) side. Instead, it is supported by dental implants and remains fixed in place.

This means the patient does not remove it. It is securely positioned and cemented so it functions like natural teeth, allowing the patient to eat, speak, and smile without worrying about taking it in or out.

An important advantage of this type of restoration is that it does not cover the palate. Because there is no acrylic blocking that area, patients often enjoy the taste and flavors of food much more naturally than with traditional dentures.
