What Is a CBCT Dental X-Ray?
In this video, Dr. Karen Becerra-Penagos explains why 3D imaging has become essential for safer implant planning and how CBCT scans help doctors see what standard X-rays cannot.
CBCT scans are an advanced imaging technology that allows us to see the skull, upper jaw (maxilla), and lower jaw (mandible) in three dimensions. The machine moves around your head and takes multiple images, which are combined into a detailed 3D view.
This technology lets us accurately evaluate bone height, bone thickness, and the exact position of your teeth and jaw structures. It gives us a clear picture of what is happening beneath the surface, which is critical for safe and precise treatment planning.
CBCT imaging is now considered the standard of care for dental implant placement. Because we place implants, we have CBCT machines available in both of our offices to ensure accurate diagnosis and safe treatment planning.
