Food is more than just fuel. In many cases, food is what brings us together! Sharing a meal with family and friends is an important part of our lives, almost like a ritual or tradition. But with floating dentures, your routine gets disrupted. Loose or floating dentures impact your ability to eat certain foods, potentially forcing you to alter your diet. But with snap-in dentures, we stabilize your bite and secure your smile in place. At Healthy Habit Dental Care, we use dental implants to anchor loose dentures to your jaw. In some cases, we may even be able to transform your current denture into a snap-in denture.

What Are Snap-In Dentures?
Snap-in dentures are a type of dentadura postiza con implantes. Rather than relying on your jawbone for support like a traditional prosthetic, this restoration relies on implantes dentales.
At Healthy Habit Dental Care, we use mini implantes dentales to support snap-in dentures. These tiny titanium posts may be small, but they’re incredibly strong and reliable. Once in your jaw, mini implants will integrate with the bone over time to form a stable connection. Using that connection, we then anchor your denture in place, restoring your smile.
However, it’s important to note that snap-in dentures are still removable.
Just like a traditional denture, we advise removing your denture after eating and rinsing it under water. Additionally, make sure to clean your gums between meals as well, ensuring no food particles get trapped under your prosthetic.
To remove your denture, simply push up on the base until your denture “snaps” off. Then, to put it back, line the denture housings up with your implants and gently push down until the implants “snap” back in. And with your denture back in place, you can eat the foods you love without hesitation.
Can We Transform Your Denture Into an Implant Denture?
In many cases, we can convert your current loose denture into a snap-in denture.
- Consulta gratuita: During your initial visit, we will discuss your needs. If you have a loose denture and want to stabilize it with dental implants, we must first assess the quality of your jawbone. Using a 3D digital X-ray, we will determine whether you have enough jawbone material to support mini dental implants. Fortunately, most patients do! Then, we will assess your denture. If the prosthetic is in good condition and has enough space to fit over implants, we’ll likely be able to use it.
Denture alterations: To fit your denture over implants, we’ll need to make adjustments to its design. This process involves refitting your denture to your jaw, adding housings inside the base, and removing the bulky upper denture plate. The plate covers your upper palate, blocking taste buds and sitting uncomfortably in your mouth. But with implants for support, there is no need for a bulky upper base! Instead, your denture will be transformed into a sleeker, more natural-looking prosthetic.- Implant placement: At your consultation, we’ll create a treatment plan and determine where your future implants should go. Then, at your procedural appointment, we will follow this plan, placing mini implants strategically around your jaw. To support snap-in dentures, we typically use anywhere from 4 to 8 implants. But thanks to their small diameter, mini dental implants fit easily in your jaw, making the process less invasive and more comfortable overall.
- Denture Stabilization: With your denture ready and your implants placed, we typically secure the prosthetic that very same day. While your implants stabilize in your jawbone, you may need to follow a softer diet temporarily. But after a few weeks, your bite will be back to normal!
